Because of his love for animals and nature, Norton was inspired to try his hand at woodcarving. That was more than 20 years ago.
He has been carving ever since.
Not surprisingly, Norton is probably best known for his whimsical woodcarvings of animals--he carves virtually all breeds of dog, from Airedale to Boxer to Golden Retriever to Labs and Scotties. He also carves flowers, fruits, vegetables and people. His pieces range in size from a two inch hummingbird to an 11 foot rabbit.
Norton's carvings have been included in exhibitions of the Museum of American Folk Art, New York and featured in such magazines as Yankee, House Beautiful and many others.
