The
Bauer Pottery Company was started in 1878 by J.A. Bauer. Located in
Paducah, Kentucky, the company was engaged mainly in the production
of crocks and jugs for distilleries during those early years. In 1907,
when the company moved to California, it began to develop designs for
household pottery.
Employing the best ceramists of the time - Russel Wright,
among others - the company quickly gained reknown for the simplicity and
beauty of its pottery. In 1931 the company introduced the ringware pattern,
which offered classical, timeless shapes in solid, bold, bright colors,
thus changing the look of American dinnerware forever.
Due to an extended labor strike, however, the company was
forced out of business in 1962.
A new company was formed in 1998, and in the year 2000
resumed production of all the original ringware forms.
Ringware pottery is hand-cast and h and-glazed. It is dishwasher
and microwave safe. For Purchase or Inquiries, please email fjmielegly@aol.com |
